Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get a maintenance on my solar hot water system?

It is recommended you get a maintenance on your solar hot water system every 3-5 years, as your system's anode rod disintegrates in that timeframe. You are also eligible for Hawai'i Energy rebates every 3 years on a solar hot water maintenance service.

What if my installing company has gone out of business?

We are able to honor all manufacturer warranties on systems whose installing company have gone out of business. Depending on the service, labor is usually the only billable expense.

Why is +(web) important on my PV system's envoy?

Communication between the envoy and microinverters is important in order to see daily production from each microinverter, if microinverter is properly producing, and/or to process a claim with Enphase Energy. *Microinverters have a 20-25 year warranty with Enphase Energy.

How can I tell if I have +(web)?

You can login to your Enlighten manager account, https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com, where your envoy will show a green check mark and display +(web), you can give us a call at 808-261-9740 and we can check on Enlighten for you, and/or some envoys have a small green, digital screen that display either -(web) or +(web).

I cannot get a +(web) connection & need additional assistance?

Give us a call, 808-261-9740, and/or send us an e-mail, info@hoasolarinc.com, and we can schedule a technician to come out to your home to troubleshoot and re-establish a +(web) connection for you. *Please note, there are no warranties for -(web) circumstances, labor charges will apply. At home troubleshooting: If you have an "Ethernet Connection," you will have 2 wireless bridges. One plugged into your system's envoy and a second, matching bridge, plugged into your home's internet router. You can unplug both bridges, wait 1 minute, and plug back in. This will re-send the internet signal back and forth from each other, hopefully re-establishing a +(web) connection.

Does my photovoltaic system work in a blackout?

If your solar panel system is connected to the grid, it will shut off in the event of a blackout. This is to prevent emergency responders and electricity utility repair-people from being injured by your panels sending power back to the grid.
